FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT FOR GIRLS' GAMING AS NEW CARD GAME REVEALS HOT SALES
AT
TOY FAIR '99
(Tempe, Arizona) Fortune Teller, Precedence Entertainment's new
card game
targeted for pre-teen girls, debuted to an overwhelming response at
this
year's Toy Fair in New York City. Retailers and hobbyists were
impressed by
Fortune Teller's unique concept and beautiful design. Addressing
the
current red hot market for collectible card games designed for kids
eight
and up, Fortune Teller is the first such product specifically designed
to
reach the largely untapped market for girls.
"The response was so favorable at Toy Fair that plans for a second printing
had to begin even before the first shipment was in," stated the game's
designer, L.A. Leis. Leis, a highly regarded graphic designer
and
illustrator, based her initial design on the classic schoolyard game
of
"cootie catchers". Precedence uses the term Folding Oracles to describe
these paper novelties familiar to girls throughout the world.
Legend Cards,
the other component of the Fortune Teller system, display vibrant mythical
characters along with fascinating facts and stories on the backs of
each
card. The characters are inspired by a variety of mythologies,
including
Arthurian, Native American, and Classic Greek. Fortune Teller's
beautiful
illustration is primarily the work of Leis, with contributions by artists
Terese Nielsen and Ran Ackels.
"The game has an educational point of view, with historical as well
as
mythological references," explains Leis. "It's also formatted
to be a
perfect item for gifts and parties." Young girls will find the
design and
presentation of the game uniquely appealing.
Fortune Teller is sold in individual packs containing one Folding Oracle
and
three Legend Cards for $2.99. There are a total of 36 Folding
Oracles and
40 Legend Cards of three different rarity levels, each depicting a
different
theme or aspect of life.
There are currently plans to translate Fortune Teller into at least
six
languages, including Spanish, German, French and Japanese. Leis
is already
designing an expansion set, which will contain even more unique stories
based on classic mythology as well as historic characters.
Ms. Leis is currently available for interviews regarding Fortune Teller,

PRECEDENCE ENTERTAINMENT LAUNCHES IMMORTAL UNIVERSE INTO THE NEXT MILLENIUM
(Tempe, Arizona) With a liquid sheen of melting chrome and a white
hot
blaze of screaming metal, IMMORTAL explodes into the gaming world with
an
apocalyptic new edition that could only be called Immortal: Millenium.
The
completely restyled Immortal contains tantalizing new material and
sizzling
new art from original series creator Ran Ackels.
Veteran RPG designers Steve Winter and Paul Beakley have joined Ackels
to
present this new vision of Immortal, rebuilding the game from the ground
up
to set a new standard for RPG's. This completely revised new
Immortal game
combines an incredibly detailed background with a game system streamlined
to
allow players to charge right into the razor's edge action and
ever-tightening webs of intrigue.
The story of Immortal concerns the end of the modern world, and the
return
to dominance of immortal beings that existed before human civilization.
The
myths that humanity holds dear will crumble when ancient gods rise
from
their secret places to fight a final war with the forces of darkness.
A new
age of legend is dawning. Whether this age will be terrible or
breathtaking
depends to a large extent upon how the players handle the challenges
that
face them.
The cover of Immortal: Millenium will feature actress / Playboy model
Claudia Christian (Babylon 5, Hexed), provocatively posed as one of
the
pivotal Immortal characters. Future covers will feature other
stars fans
will recognize from some of the hottest movies and television series.
Book
one will contain 96 pages introducing the Immortal world and game system,
as
well as a CD ROM compatible with PC or Mac, containing an additional
96
pages of character and world development. Immortal: Millenium is scheduled
for August release, and will retail for $19.99.
Precedence Entertainment is paving the way for the launch of Immortal:
Millenium with major promotions and retailer incentives. A free
24 page
IMMORTAL introductory game, which details the game system along with
a
starting adventure will be distributed free of charge to IMMORTAL stocking
retailers for pass along to their customers. The introduction
will ship in
July. At the same time Precedence is offering a 20% credit
for the return
or certified destruction of any first edition IMMORTAL books still
in the
retail channel.
"Precedence is pulling out all the stops to ensure that IMMORTAL: Millenium
is THE game that role-players are playing and talking about in 1999
and
2000," states CEO Paul W. Brown III. "First Edition Immortal was the
first
product published by Precedence. The things we got right in that first
release (like the mind-blowing campaign setting!) will be found in
the new
game. The things we didn't get right in the original game (like
too much
jargon) are vastly improved in IMMORTAL: Millenium. One look
at the Claudia
Christian cover and you'll know that this is not your parents' Role
Playing
game!"
