History
Built in the early years of the first western expansion of Creation, The Obsidian Pearl was designed to be a mobile observation center to aid in the detection and defense of Wyld attacks. The Dawn Caste stationed there was responsible for coordinating the first responses to Wyld attacks, as well as softening targets before the Deliberative could move in to take more permanent measures. From his hidden base, he and his circle protected the western shore of the Blessed Isle using ships with both advanced stealth adn weapons technologies.
After the reestablishment of the Great Western Continent, managing piracy and ensuring the safe delivery of rare components to and form the mainland became his business. Centuries of petty pirate raids drew on the eternal patience of this Solar. Between the basic drudgery of his duties, the stability of Creation, and the popularity and efficacy of Leviathan, the Dawn Caste began loosing interest in his duties and had been causing as much trouble as he prevented. By the time of the Usurpation, he had "liberated" an even larger number of powerful stealth warships. He welcomed the ensuing blood bath.
The Solar was not at that fateful dinner. By the time word had reached him, his Lieutenants had taken almost half of his fleet. Well, they took half of the reported fleet anyway. His manse took a direct hit during a relocation, and became embedded in the rock of a small island. The Dragon Blooded assumed him dead, but his mortal pilots knew better. Over the course of the next year they smuggled his weapons back to him and they were finally able to counter the dread strike. They took to the sky, and the Dawn Caste's pulse beat with the hymn of battle for the first time in almost a century.
After his fiery death, the manse laid undiscovered for one thousand, three hundred years. The Lintha found the island where it had become stuck, but the entrance to the manse eluded them. They could feel the essence concentrated in the island, but set about removing the delicate black jade tiles which decorated the entryway instead of trying to find the source. The Essence patterns shifted away from the great funnel which fed the architecture inside and the place began to die.
Modern day
Nearly a millenia after that, the manse felt a familiar presence grace its grand entryway. It lit the door to its corridors with the last ambient motes in hopes of attracting its rightful king. Ebon Surf Chaser opened the main door, and graced its wonderful halls once again. Inside he found a dark, new home. Over the years he has learned some of its secrets, and has been able to procure liquefied essence charged reagents to light its crystals, providing a weak interior light.
The manse is still submerged in the stone of the island where it crashed, but it is not in danger of exploding. As he slowly remembers the true glory of his true home, he will seek out one who can repair it. The world has changed much since it last saw the light. Who knows where it will land now?
