TIME SPHERES AND THE KINDRED
Mages Reactions to the Vampire
by Conrad Hubbard

I definitely agree with those who feel that the kindred in some way or another aided the foundation of the Technocracy.  Given the era of the Camarilla forming and enforcing the Masquerade, it is perhaps likely that these were in actuality sort of independent arrivals at the same conclusion (how coincidental :).  Technically the Technocracy would already have been forming before the  formation of the Camarilla and the official proclamation by a complete sect of vampires of the Masquerade.  Of course the Masquerade concept dates back much farther, supposedly to the Book of Nod.

It is entirely possible for the first idea of moving in this direction
to have come from either camp.  Possibly the vampires unwittingly help
the Technocracy with no collusion, just following like-minded goals and
not completely understanding the penalties for their actions.  Possibly
the Technocracy unwittingly helps the vampires believing that they are
benefitting from doing so, which unfortunately for the vampires becomes
somewhat true as time passes and the Technocracy reality takes hold.

As for the effect of the ancient vampires upon the Time stream.  I feel
that they are an embodiment of the past.  Certainly someone with Time 1
will sense some aberration with their flow with time.  The Antediluvians
and other ancient beings mere existence may be one of the forces of
belief keeping the Technocracy from being more successful in its
rewriting of history.  One of the dangers of the Gehenna might be that
the elders fall leaving the world at the Technocracy's mercy magically.
Maybe.

I think that the reaction of individual Traditions will depend upon their
beliefs. Of course the Verbena and Hermetic Order cannot have very positive images of kindred in the first place.  The Hermetic Order especially must rue the corruption of House Tremere and the Camarilla helping bring the end of the Mythic Age.

Dreamspeakers and Celestial Chorus will generally disdain vampires for more religiously based moral reasons, and therefore are likely to hold all
vampires in equal necessity of destruction.

Virtual Adepts and Sons of Ether would likely share the beliefs of the
Technocracy at large.  Sons of Ether might in some cases, however, be
interested in experimentation before they make up their mind.  I write some
about this in totem.

Akashics and Cult of Ecstasy likely disapprove of the personal dangers posed to personal Ascension by kindred.  The Traditions as a whole probably have no particular policy regarding kindred, but individuals are likely to try to trash any vampire who messes with them or their acolytes.

Ah, the Euthanatos--they are going to try to judge each vampire and her
place in the Wheel of Karma.  Will this soul benefit from living for ages,
or will it grind to a complete halt in its evolution?  Are those the vampire
is killing truly deservant, reaping their karma?  When does this particular
vampire need to die (not if, when)?
