New Election December 2nd November 7, 2008

We all got out there, and did the right thing this year by electing Barack Obama as the next President of the United States of America. If you were one of those who helped the cause, you should find satisfaction in the efforts we made towards improving the future of our country, human relations and the world.

For President-elect Obama, many challenges await. He is going to need a truckload of Charmin to clean up all the messes the Bush administration and the mishaps of the world have left behind. The more people that are willing to help him do the right things, the better off we will all be.

Certainly, the declaration of one’s political party is no guarantee of correct behavior. This has been proven by miscreant politicians on every side of the aisle. However, political affiliations do sometimes cause people to be belligerently obstructive for reasons other than logic or morality. As such, it seems that we should try to put as many Democratic candidates into the Congress as we can, with the hope that they will be less obstructive for reasons of mere politics. Hopefully, even Democrats will constructively oppose Obama if he makes a mistake, but we don’t need bitter politicians who are going to fuck with him just because they lost an election.

On November 4th, Senator Saxby Chambliss scored slightly more overall votes than Democratic challenger Jim Martin. Under Georgia law, however, a Senator must get at least 50% of the state’s votes. This didn’t happen. Martin and Chambliss both lost votes to other candidates. Thus, on December 2nd, a runoff election between Martin and Chambliss is scheduled. If you want to help Obama face fewer belligerent obstructions, you should go out and vote for Democrat Jim Martin. You might just be helping improve the future.
