Lincoln’s Birthday, Obama’s Wins February 12, 2008

Obama '08Today, February 12th, is Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. The real one. Not that federal holiday that fakes it, in conjunction with faking some other ex-presidents. Anyway, I like to think that Lincoln would be happy with the events of today.

Barack Obama, the first black Presidential candidate to ever gain this level of national recognition, today pulled into the lead by every measurable standard. As of today, he leads in: total Democratic delegates, total popular primary votes, pledged delegates, and polls against the presumptive Republican nominee (John McCain). Additionally, his Democratic primary votes in Virginia, despite having to compete with Clinton, beat the Republican primary votes of McCain and Huckabee combined.

I spent some time and effort reaching out to my friends and family in Virginia to try to do my part to help Obama in my previous home state (I have lived in Georgia since 1999, but was born and raised in Virginia).

This post is really a shameless effort to get you to do the same.

If you know anybody in any of these states, try to convince them to
