A Lyric on the Road December 23, 2007
Posted by Conrad Hubbard in : The Chip , add a commentThis evening, I drove from Atlanta to visit my family in Virginia for the Christmas holiday. Unlike previous years, I made the trip alone, as my estranged wife now resides with her mother in Alabama. I spent the trip listening to music and thinking about the tragic end of my marriage. “Behind every beautiful thing there’s been some kind of pain,” sang Bob Dylan, in the tune Not Dark Yet. As I drove down the highway, beneath a huge silver moon, those words rang sad and true.
